The cotton breeding program of INIFAP-Mexico recently released two new cotton varieties: Laguna 89 and CIAN 95. Both genotypes are precocius and Verticillium wilt tolerant. On Verticillium-infested soils they outyield the check (Deltapine 80) by 31 and 11%, respectively. On Verticillium free soils Laguna 89 lint cotton yield is 10% higher than the yield showed by the check. The fiber of Laguna 89 and CIAN 95 is longer and stronger than the fiber of Deltapine 80.
