Automated Paddle and Ram Samplers for Cotton Gins

W. Stanley Anthony

ABSTRACT

Automated cotton sample collection devices were developed and installed in several ginning systems. These devices provided a uniform density of the surface of the cotton sample in order to ensure that moisture, color, and trash measurements were within acceptable accuracies. The devices include a paddle-type sampler and a compression ram; about 25 of these devices are currently being used successfully in the ginning industry.
