OSHA Inspection Requirements

Jack Link

ABSTRACT

Every cotton gin is subject to inspection by federal or state OSHA compliance and health officers. Gins are covered under the Agriculture standard and enjoy many exemptions that other industries must address. However, when no specific standard is cited, employers are responsible under the general duty clause of the OSHA Act. The clause states that each employer "shall furnish...a place of employment which is free from recognized hazards that are causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees."
