The Estimated Cost of Boll Weevil Eradication in Mississippi

D. W. Parvin, Jr., J. W. Smith

ABSTRACT

Boll weevil numbers in Mississippi have been increasing in recent years. Larger boll weevil populations increase the likelihood that the cost of boll weevil eradication will exceed projections. Likewise, larger estimated or projected cost prior to the eradication referendum increases the risk of a negative vote.
