Influence of Nematicides for Reniform Nematode Management

G. W. Lawrence, K. S. McLean

ABSTRACT

Tests were conducted in 1990-1993 to examine the efficacy of selected nematicides and chemical compounds for the control of the reniform nematode (Rotylenchulus reniformis) and subsequent effects on cotton yields. Treatments included Temik 15G, a soil fumigant Telone II, an experimental nematicide Fosthiazate, and SM-9 a non-ionic surfactant. Temik 15G, Telone II, Fosthiazate 900EC, and SM-9 reduced R. reniformis populations when averaged across all tests. Increases in seed cotton yield, over the untreated control were 852.9, 1,284, 179.2 and 1041.4 lb/a for Temik 15G, Telone II, Fosthiazate 900EC and SM-9, respectively.
