Use of Ovasyn® in Cotton Pest Management

Edward P. Pieters and John Lublinkhof

ABSTRACT

OVASYN® is a new and valuable tool for use in cotton pest management. It belongs to a new class of chemicals with multiple modes of biological activity. OVASYN enhances the activity of synthetic pyrethroids against tobacco budworm larvae. This enhancement is particularly evident against pyrethroid resistant strains. OVASYN is selective and relatively safe to beneficials. It provides good ovicidal activity against tobacco budworm. Mite control is similar to standard miticides. When used alone or in tank mix with other insecticides, OVASYN gives good control of whiteflies. OVASYN improves the activity of Bidrin® against cotton aphids.
