Evaluation of Fury 1.5 EC Against Cotton Insect Pests

H.R. Mitchell and L.D. Hatfield

ABSTRACT

Field efficacy trials were conducted in 1991 and 1992 to evaluate the insecticidal activity of Fury 1.5 EC insecticide, FMC's newest pyrethroid insecticide, against the major insect pests of cotton. Fury applied at 0.0375 lb ai/A provided commercially acceptable control of Heliothis virescens (F.), Helicoverpa zea (Boddie), Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders), Anthonomus grandis Boheman, and Lygus spp. control equal to or better than that of Karate, Baythroid, Asana XL and Scout X-tra at 0.028, 0.03, 0.034 and 0.019 lb ai/A, respectively. Fury also provided superior his gossypii Glover suppression to that provided by these pyrethroids. Superior insect control with Fury subsequently resulted in greater yields than that of the other pyrethroids.
