Cotton Yield Enhancement from Foliar Application of Burst® Yield Booster™, a Cytokinin Product

Jerry V. Mayeux and Vernon L. Illum

ABSTRACT

The use of growth regulators to enhance the yields of various agriculturally important crops has been under investigation for many years. Most of the products that have been successfully used are products that have evolved from pesticide screening programs. These products have been shown to be effective primarily in altering the stature of the plant, and thereby assisting in protecting crop yields or promoting ease in harvest for a higher percentage of harvestable produce. There is evidence that many insecticides show biological activity other than simply control of insect pests. However, the ability to document yield enhancement from growth regulator activity as opposed to yield enhancement through control of insect pests is difficult to separate under grower conditions.
