ABSTRACT

Align is a new insect growth regulator that contains azadirachtin as its active ingredient. Extracted from the seeds of the neem tree (Azadirachta indica Juss), azadirachtin acts as an antagonist of the insect molting hormone ecdysone and interferes with proper metamorphosis. Align has a very broad spectrum of activity and is primarily effective against several Lepidopterous and Coleopterous pests. Azadirachtin as a new mode of action has elicited no insecticidal resistance and is also soft against beneficial insects. Align could be ideally suited for implementation into cotton IPM programs.
