Effects of Rib Gap Spacing on Seedcoat Fragments and Finished Cloth

S.E. Hughs, J.D. Bargeron, and M. Watson

ABSTRACT

Seedcoat-fragment contamination in gray cloth may cause inferior finished fabric. Levels of seedcoat fragments in gray cloth and corresponding light specks in finished cloth seem to be related. The levels of both seedcoat fragments and dyed cloth light specks are more dependent on the variety of cotton than on the width of the saw-gin-stand rib gap.
