Pima Seed-Cotton Cleaning for Maximum Profit

M. N. Gillum

ABSTRACT

A Pima seed-cotton cleaning study helped determine what level of seed-cotton cleaning returned the most dollar to the farmer. Seed-cotton cleaners used for the test included 6-cylinder inclines and stick machines. The levels of seed-cotton cleaning ranged form three to seven cleaners not counting the feeder. Seedcotton cleaning efficiency ranged from 64.7 to 80.7 percent including the feeder. Bale values ranged from 390.39 to 416.22 dollars. The highest bale value resulted when using five seed-cotton cleaners.
