The effects of a split-roving draft system and a merged-roving draft system were studied by comparing the strengths and uniformities of the resulting yarns against that from a conventional draft system. The results indicate that the "side-by-side" yarns and "sheath-core" yarns produced by the novel draft systems were higher in breaking strength and also lower in unevenness CV%. An improvement in yarn evenness was also observed when the break draft ratio was reduced to 1.5 from 2.0. |
