Bl2142-20: A New Plant Bioregulant and Growth Regulator

D.T. Schulteis

ABSTRACT

The product, BL2142-20, contains a combination of active components. One active ingredient is a plant bioregulant which affects several physiological processes in plants without influencing the growth and development of the plants per se. Increased carbon dioxide fixation and reduced ethylene evolution are two of the major physiological processes influenced by BL2142-20 applications. The mechanism of action for the bioregulant component of BL2142-20 appears to be its effect on plant cell membranes. By altering the permeability and strength of the membranes through interactions with phospholipids many major cellular processes can be affected.
