The Zellweger Uster Advanced Fiber Information System (AFIS) is gaining recognition as a textile process quality control tool. The AFIS method can provide fiber-by-fiber data. Thus, it is now possible to measure the fiber distributions which give more information than just the average values. An update on fineness and maturity distributions measured by AFIS is presented and the applications of these distributions are discussed.
