Current Recommendations for Ginning Emission Control under Various Regulations

William Mayfield, Calvin Parnell, Ed Hughs, Eugene Columbus and Phil Wakelyn

ABSTRACT

Controlling dust emissions is a problem for cotton gins which has become more critical as Federal laws and State regulations get tougher. Solid research and decades of industry experience indicate that the basic ginning equipment control package consisting of cyclones on high pressure exhausts and in-line filters or condenser drum coverings on low pressure lines should be adequate to met regulations in mst locations. Gin location, good relationships with neighbors, and regulators and good management/housekeeping can greatly reduce problems.
