Rotary Drum Filters and Two-Stage Collection Systems - How Effective Are They and What Do They Cost?

Kevin Brinkley, Eugene Columbus, S.E. Hughs, and Curtis Stewart

ABSTRACT

Cost data of various configurations of gin emission control devices were collected from manufacturers and compared for their respective efficiencies. Unifilter (rotary drum) system, 2D-2D, 1D-3D, and 2D-2D plus 1D-3D series cyclones systems were analyzed. The 2D-2D and 1D-3D configuration was found to be effective in controlling TSP emissions at a reasonable cost. The difference in collections of other systems do not yield significant collection efficiency improvements compared to the additional expense.
