Ginning Technologies Aimed at Preserving Fiber Quality and Maximizing Producer Profits

Donald W. Van Doorn

ABSTRACT

Lummus Industries, Inc. is involved in several activities aimed at preserving fiber quality in spite of the fact that the present H.V.I. classing system offers little or no monetary incentives to producers to maximize true spinning quality. Working with other technical leaders in the cotton industry, Lummus currently offers or has under development several technologies for preserving fiber quality or maximizing producer profits which are described in chronological order as the cotton flows through the ginning system.
