Evaluation of Two Acala Cottons Differing Only in Fiber Maturity by Analysis of Yarn Tensile Data for a Wide Range of Sizes and Twist Factors

L.B. Deluca and D.P. Thibodeaux

ABSTRACT

A series of five yarn sizes at each of five twist factors were spun on a ring frame using two different cottons. Yarn tensile data, made on the Uuster Ddynamat II were evaluated by a method that determines yarn tenacity per broken fiber, number of broken fibers, and the effective fiber length acting for similar yarns of each cotton allow an insight into frictional behavior of the cottons of low and high maturity.
