Irrigation Systems: Energy Sprinkler Irrigation

William M. Lyle

ABSTRACT

The Low Energy Precision Application (LEPA) irrigation concept was introduced to the Beltwide Cotton Production-Mechanization Conference in 1979 and has since been tested for two years and compared with conventional sprinkler and furrow methods. The evaluation included irrigation application efficiency, distribution uniformity, water use efficiency and energy saving potential. File LEPA system was superior in all categories. Field data support the irrigation efficiency, results and indicate an economic justification for conversions to LEPA irrigation.
