End Uses of Cottonseed Oil

Duane Hacklander and Jorge Hazera

ABSTRACT

Over one-half of the U.S. Cottonseed oil is exported. Of the domestic edible use of cottonseed oil, about two-thirds is in the manufacture of salad and cooking oils and about one-fourth is in the manufacture of baking and frying fats. The relative importance of cottonseed oil in domestic edible oil products has declined dramatically with the sharp increase in soybean oil use.
