Performance of New Herbicides for Weed Control in Cotton

R.M. Hayes and P.E. Hoskinson

ABSTRACT

Field experiments were conducted during 1982 at the West Tennessee Experiment: Station near Jackson to evaluate the efficacy of selected new herbicides for weed control in cotton. Soil type was a Dexter silt loam (Ultic Hapludalf) with 0.8% organic matter. Soil moisture was adequate to optimize activity of soil applied herbicides. The growing season was excellent for cotton as indicated by lint yields of greater than 1000 lb/A in most tests. All experiments were RCB designs with four replications. All applications were made with hand-held CO2 sprayers with a spray volume of 20 gpa.
