Effects of Proposed Classing Changes on Ginning Practices

William D. Mayfield

ABSTRACT

A more accurate quality evaluation system which would allow the market to reward the fiber properties which are most important to efficient textile manufacturing would significantly improve the competitiveness and profitability of the entire cotton textile industry. Recent recommendations of an industry committee which would move toward that goal are being well received. The effects of these proposed changes on ginning practices are discussed.
