ABSTRACT

Two experiments were conducted during 1988 to compare the effectiveness of Dipel and Javelin ovicide combination with that of chlordimeform (CDF). Javelin was compared to CDF, amitraz, and thiodicarb at equal rates, alone, and in combinations. Javelin was also compared to combinations of SAN285, a feeding stimulant, with Javelin + CDF. CDF, thiodicarb, Javelin + thiodicarb, Javelin + CDF, Javelin + SAN285, and Javelin + SAN285 + CDF significantly reduced boll damage. Javelin, amitraz, and Javelin + amitraz did not. Javelin + thiodicarb and Javelin + amitraz were not different in damaged bolls from Javelin alone, while Javelin + CDF was different. Only the Javelin + CDF combination increased yield. In the second experiment, comparisons were made between Dipel ES in combination with CDF, thiodicarb, methomyl, amitraz at 0.125 lb ai/A, fenoxycarb at 0.2 lb ai/A, as well as, Javelin in combination with CDF and amitraz at 0.125 lb ai/A. Dipel ES + fenoxycarb, Dipel ES + CDF, and Javelin + CDF significantly reduced boll damage. Yield was not taken.
