Activity of Mixtures of Chlorpyrifos and Profenofos or Sulprofos on Pyrethroid Susceptible Heliothis Virescens

Johnny R. Fitt, Jr. and Doris Paroonagian

ABSTRACT

Field studies were conducted during 1987 and 1988 on cotton plants artificially Infested with pyrethroid susceptible tobacco budworm (TBW), Heliothis virescens, eggs or neonate larvae. Mixtures of chorpyrifos at 0.5 lb. al/A with either profenofos or sulprofos at 0.5 lb. al/A were as effective as full rates of profenofos or sulprofos (1.0 lb. al/A) alone. Advantages of these mixtures are: mixtures fit well in resistance management programs, possible economic advantage over other non-pyrethroid TBW treatments, and decreased visual phytotoxicity.
