Consolidated HGM Corporation Horn 164 Gin Stand

Russell M. Sutton

ABSTRACT

Very few changes have occurred in high capacity ginning in the last twelve to fifteen years. Consolidated HGM Corporation has completed the development of the Horn 164 Gin Stand which began in 1985. Basic roll box design and internal working components are the result of many years of Vandergriff research. These proven ideas were combined with the design principles of Consolidated HGM and the results are exceptional. Over a three year development period, approximately 35,000 bales were processed on prototype models. For the 1988-89 processing season, sixteen new, units will be in operation in the Mid-South area and on the High Plains of Texas. The Horn 164 has made great advances in high capacity ginning with low energy requirements, while offering a low maintenance, long life machine.
