Innovative Approaches to Marketing Whole Cottonseed

Lee A. Warner

ABSTRACT

Whole cottonseed must be looked at as a product not a byproduct of cotton production. For the 1988 cotton crop the seed represent, thirteen to eighteen percent of the value of the total crop. Cottonseed revenue could represent more than the cotton farmer's profit margin from an acre of cotton. With proper support for research and promotion, cottonseed can become an even more valuable commodity.
