The Design and Development of the New Family of Case IH Diesel Engines

John Strangberg

ABSTRACT

A new generation of engines was designed, developed and is now being, manufactured to power new Case equipment. In 1980 Case pooled its resources with those of Cummins Engine Company, and the Consolidated Diesel Company was born. This new plant, located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, is one of the most advanced engine production facilities ever housed under one roof. Computerized technology used in the design and manufacturing of these engines has produced an engine that has 25 percent fewer parts, greater reliability, excellent fuel efficiency and easier serviceability.
