The Cotton Classing System of the 1990's

Jesse Moore

ABSTRACT

The classing system of the 1990's should provide all of the quality information needed by the manufacturer to process Cotton in the most efficient manner. Measurements of length, length uniformity, strength, color, trash, fineness and maturity are essential with measures of elongation, stickiness, and short fiber content optional. An Industry Advisory Committee on Cotton Marketing is being established to address measurement needs and the impact on cotton marketing.
