Insect Control for Earliness a Producer's Viewpoint

Jimmy Hargett

ABSTRACT

Earliness in cotton production is extremely critical in West Tennessee, since this location is on the Northernmost fringe of the Cotton Belt. In order to achieve earliness, factors such as early insect and disease control are critical. Yield enhancement with chlordimeform has also proven to be an important practice for increasing earliness and yields. Use of the GOSSYM/COMAX crop simulation model has helped fine tune production practices.
