An Image Analyzer for Evaluating Liquid Chemical Applications

F.E. Sistler, D.C. Rester, and P.A. Smith

ABSTRACT

An image analyzing system has been developed to measure aerial application patterns for liquid pesticides. The system measures the percent area covered at desired intervals across the swath, and counts the number of droplets and the size of the droplet images created on bond paper cards which have been placed on the ground across the swath width of the aircraft. The system uses a video camera coupled with a microcomputer to perform the analysis. The image analyzer system has been used successfully for three years to analyze several thousand card images.
