Video trashmeters in 14 USDA Motion Control HVI's give fairly accurate readings of trash in cotton samples. Based on limited testing of the 1989 crop, Light Spotted grades showed to have higher trash readings than comparable White grades, e.g., 41 had less trash than 42. Plus grades showed lower trash readings than the comparable regular grade in white cotton, e.g., 40 had less trash than 41. Comparisons of four Quality Control trashmeters were made with ten Lamesa Classing Office trashmeters.
