Control of Two-Spotted Spider Mites on Cotton

M.F. Schuster, W.C. Langston, and Mary P. Gibbs

ABSTRACT

A three year study with newer miticides and combinations was conducted. After treatment, leaves from the 6-8 position were examined for presence or absence of mites. Yields were taken and related to mite control. Late season spider mite infestations did not effect yields in these experiments. Pyrethroid insecticides caused resurgence of spider mites, although they gave a short period of control. Combinations of miticides provided good control and combinations with pyrethroids reduced resurgence. OP resistant predatory mites were affected by pyrethroids and resulted in spider mite outbreaks.
