Cotton Agro-Ecosystem of Central Sind, Pakistan

Barkat Ali Soomro, Ahmad Ali Baloch, and Ali Mohammad Kalroo

ABSTRACT

As expected, the plant growth and fructification pattern of Qallandri variety of upland cotton followed the normal bell-shaped distribution in Central Sind, Pakistan. Analysis of variance of data revealed nonsignificant weekly differences for number of squares, flowers, and green bolls per acre, but the monthly and consequently the yearly differences were highly significant.

Every year, second fort-night of July to second fort-night of September is the critical period of two months when maximum sucking pest activity has been observed. Spraying recommendations are advocated accordingly and in relation to the onset of monsoon rains.
