ABSTRACT

One of the objectives of the multi-adversity resistance (MAR) genetic improvement program is to develop superior glandless cottons. The glandless MAR germplasm Lyman and GN-8 have been released. The new GCANH-1-83 MAR strain represents additional improvements in glandless cultivars for resistance to plant pathogens and insects. GCANH has improved resistance to plant pathogens that is about equal to Tamcot CAMD-E. GCANH is slightly less resistant to insects than CAMD-E. Substantial improvement in yield potential and fiber quality in glandless MAR germplasm, about equal to the latest releases of Tamcot cultivars, has been achieved.
