Reaction of Selected Genotypes of Cotton to Verticillium Wilt in Mississippi in 1986

W.E. Batson and Don Blasingame

ABSTRACT

Differences in the occurrence of early foliar symptoms of Verticillium wilt and yield were evident among eleven genotypes of cotton evaluated in Mississippi. Disease pressure was more severe at the Holmes county site where cotton was irrigated. Of the genotypes evaluated, Verticillium wilt was most severe on Stoneville 825, DES 422, and McNair 235. DES 237-7 produced the highest yields in 1985 and 1986, the second year of a multi-year study.
