ABSTRACT

Late season rains on the 1984 crop in the Mississippi Delta cotton-growing areas prompted increased research efforts on this weathered cotton. The detrimental effects on cotton quality caused by the heavy rains after boll opening in the fields were quickly noted by Cotton Inc. and USDA. Cooperative research efforts reported here will deal with the chemical and microscopical changes that occurred in these cottons. Analyses of selected ginned cotton will be included.
