TEXCIM - A Fleahopper-Heliothis-Plant Model for on Farm Use

Winfield Sterling and Albert Hartstack

ABSTRACT

The TEXCIM model integrates predictions of bollworms, tobacco budworms, fleahoppers, and cotton fruit which are primarily dependent on temperature, predators, and insecticides. TEXCIM provides decision aids on a field-by-field or community-wide basis. Inputs of bollworm, fleahopper, and predator counts along with temperature, rainfall, expected yield, variety, and plant stage from each field produce expected yield, % loss, expected defoliation date, control recommendations, and insect fruit predictions in color graphics.
