A farm level expert system for a cotton farm, COTFLEX, has been developed and the marketing component is 'The Marketing Advisor.' This component of the system will provide advice regarding expected prices by enterprise for cropmix decisions and price risk management. The design of these COTFLEX components are described and include two primary modules: the price expectations generator and an optimal hedging portfolio selector.
