Chemical Control of Cotton Diseases: Interface Between Private and Public Research in the Development of Agricultural Products

H.V. Morton

ABSTRACT

There is a need for a strong federal agency to handle the registration of new chemical controls, but there is cause for concern over the frequent registration delays within EPA. Public researchers must learn to be more aggressive in supporting or rejecting legislation on issues that affect them. Agriculture needs synergism in research and in helping the farmer resolve his economic situation. Key factors for future collaboration between Government/Industry/University interactions are discussed. Along with this, is the need to improve technology transfer to the farmer by stressing a holistic approach to cotton production.
