Post Emergence Grass Control in Cotton with Assures

L.B. Gillham

ABSTRACT

Assure® herbicide, formerly DPX Y6202, was first evaluated on cotton for the control of both annual an perennial grasses in 1980 under the code number of NC 96883. Since that time, Assure® has evolved throng an entire testing program and two years of EUP, wit full labeling expected in 1986.

Assure® has proven itself to be an effective post emergence grass herbicide on both annual as well a perennial grasses occurring in cotton.

While effective use rates fall between the 1/2 to oz. ai per acre range for most annual grasses, rhizome johnsongrass will require rates of 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 oz. and bermudagrass 2 to 3 oz. ai.

All essential studies are not complete and filed wit EPA. Registration on cotton and soybeans is expected in 1986, with peanuts, potatoes, and others expected in 1987.
