Field studies were conducted during 1995 to evaluate Tracer^®; naturalyte insect control in both small plot and large EUP trials. Trials were established in VA, NC, SC, GA, AL AND FL. The large EUP trials involved 10 acre plots for Tracer and generally greater than 10 acres for the commercial standard. Tracer was evaluated at 50 to 100 g ai/ha in the small plot trials and at 70 g ai/ha in the large EUP trials. In the small plot trials, Tracer at 70 to 100 g ai/ha gave result similar to the commercial standard for cotton bollworm, Helicoverpa zea (Boddie). Tracer at 70 g ai/ha was comparable to the commercial standards in the large EUP trials against cotton bollworm. Beneficial arthropod counts were observed to be greater in the Tracer treated large plots than for the commercial standards. Yields were statistically similar for Tracer and the commercial standard in the large EUP cotton bollworm trials. Control of tobacco budworm, Heliothis virescens (F.) with Tracer at 50 to 100 g ai/ha was observed to be equal to or greater than the commercial standards in the small plot trials. For those small plot trials where yields were measured, Tracer at 50 and 100 g ai/ha gave statistically superior results. Tracer at the single test rate of 70 g ai/ha gave excellent results comparing favorably with the commercial standards for insect control and cotton yield in the large EUP trials against tobacco budworm.
