The deadline to submit a Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) application to USDA is August 28th. As of July 27th, the total approved CFAP payment amount for cotton is $197 million, and 80% of that amount, or $165 million, has been disbursed to cotton producers. The National Cotton Council’s Vice President of Washington Operations, Reece Langley, joins us to explain payment details and he shares his expectations on the pending inclusion of extra-long staple, or ELS, cotton in the program.
