Research and extension entomologists from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi & Tennessee worked with the National Cotton Council to give EPA representatives information regarding tarnished plant bugs and the high numbers they have encountered during the last three years.

This week’s Cotton Newsline is 4 cuts.  All cuts are Don Parker, manager of integrated pest management for the National Cotton Council.

Don Parker, manager of integrated pest management for the National Cotton Council, says nine members of EPA responded to the invitation to meet at the Delta Research Extension in Stoneville, Mississippi .

Parker says tarnished plant bugs are not a new pest to the Mid-South, however it is becoming more difficult to control these pests.

Parker says Dr. Jeff Gore at the Delta Research center had some research plots available for members of the EPA to see the damage being done by tarnished plant bugs.
