The Average Crop Revenue Election program or ACRE was introduced as an alternative to the traditional Direct and Counter Cyclical Payment program in the 2008 Farm Bill.

Suggested introduction cut 1:
The Average Crop Revenue Election program or ACRE was introduced as an alternative to the traditional Direct and Counter Cyclical Payment program in the 2008 Farm Bill.  Dr. Gary Adams, Vice-President of Economics and Policy Analysis for the National Cotton Council says that enrollment for the ACRE program will begin April 27.

According to Adams there may be additional signatures required when enrolling in the ACRE program.

Adams says there are a couple of things producers should keep in mind when determining whether or not to sign up for ACRE.

Adams says it is important to remember that if a farm is enrolled in ACRE it will remain in the program for the life of the farm bill.
