This week’s Cotton Newsline is 2 cuts. All cuts are Robbie Minnich, Senior Government Relations Representative for the National Cotton Council.

Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer has announced that the final counter-cyclical payment rate for the ’07 crop of upland cotton is 6.43 cents per pound. Robbie Minnich, Senior Government Relations Representative for the National Cotton Council says farmers who received the first partial payment of 3.09 cents per pound in February 2008 will receive an additional 3.34 cents per pound.

Minnich says while the National Cotton Council knows growers appreciate the timely distribution of the final counter-cyclical payments, they are concerned by the adjustment.
