The drought is taking its toll on the cotton industry. The hardest impact is being felt in the Southeastern part of the U.S.

This week’s Cotton Newsline is 3 cuts.  All cuts are Dr. Gary Adams, Vice-President, Economics and Policy Analysis for the National Cotton Council.

Suggested introduction cut 1:
The drought is taking its toll on the cotton industry. According to Dr. Gary Adams, Vice-President of Economics and Policy Analysis for the National Cotton Council, the hardest impact is being felt in the Southeastern part of the U.S.

Suggested introduction cut 2:
USDA’s first survey based production estimate was based on August 1 crop conditions and estimated the 2007 crop to be around 17.3 million bales. Adams says he is now expecting that number to drop.

Suggested introduction cut 3:
Adams says the biggest economic impact will be felt in the local economies.
