USDA’s final estimates for the 2005 crop has the total planted area at 14.25 million acres.

USDA’s final estimates for the 2005 crop has the total planted area at 14.25 million acres. According to Dr. Gary Adams, the National Cotton Council’s Vice President of Economics and Policy Analysis, acres were up about 4 percent from the 2004 crop.

Suggested introduction cut 2:

Adams says USDA did bring the 2005 crop up a little bit in their final production estimate of 23.9 million bales for all cotton. Previous estimates were only 23.7 million bales.

Suggested introduction cut 3:

According to Adams, depending on the region, weather either helped or hindered the crop.
