The U.S. unveiled a new Doha Round agricultural proposal calling for aggressive cuts in trade distorting agricultural support and aggressive cuts in tariffs and other trade barriers.

This week’s Cotton Newsline is three cuts. All cuts are Dr. Mark Lange, President and CEO of the National Cotton Council.

The U.S. unveiled a new Doha Round agricultural proposal calling for aggressive cuts in trade distorting agricultural support  and aggressive cuts in tariffs and other trade barriers. Mark Lange, President and CEO of the National Cotton Council, says the proposed reductions would require corresponding gains in market access.

Suggested introduction cut 2:

The WTO has agreed to meet in Hong Kong in December for the Doha talks - a round of ministerial negotiations.  According to Lange that means there must be significant progress between now and mid-December before those ministers meet.

Suggested introduction cut 3:

According to Lange the Doha Round of talks will be an interesting situation for the U.S. cotton industry.
