In January 1985 we reported at the Beltwide Cotton Conference (1, 2) that Burst Yield Booster increased yields in 1984 by 80 pounds of lint, with a single application made from square elongation to early bloom. A second application, made two, weeks after the first, had increased yields by an additional 40 pounds more than the single earlier application. The yield increase from the double application averaged 120 pounds more lint per acre. The, test program in 1984 provided confirmation of previous years' data that Burst Yield Booster was an effective bioregulator for increasing cotton production. Plant mapping of yield components at four locations produced data that suggested Burst Yield Booster was increasing yields by increasing boll set or retention, aid that this increased boll load was occurring over the whole plant rather than at specific sites. Tests were set up in 1985 at University and USDA stations across the cotton belt to provide data which would further identify the response of the plait to applications of Burst Yield Booster. Additionally, tests were, also established with cotton specialists and other cooperative extension personnel. The data presented in this report, summarize the results of the plant, mapping experiments across the cotton belt in 1985. |
