Fiber Quality as Affected by Selective Ginning

L.A. Wilkes, K.E. Watkins, and W.F. Lalor

ABSTRACT

Lint cotton removed from the seed by an experimental ginning process was compared with conventional saw ginned lint. Spinning tests show that the yarn produced from fiber ginned with the experimental machine is stronger. Fewer neps are produced in spinning and less waste was encountered in the carding and picking operations.
